Today we’re taking a look at one of the recent trends in the business world, and it goes hand in hand with “The Silver Tsunami.”

Why is it called The Silver Tsunami? No idea.

But this graph shows exactly what it is. Since around 1970 the median age of the population has been creeping up to record highs in 2015. The USA is becoming a country full of older adults.

Now there are many great benefits of an aging population.

• Increased focus on longevity

• Stimulated economy from retirement spending

• Healthcare innovations

• Wisdom that comes only from experience

But with this shift in the age of the population comes an interesting shift in the work force and transfer of assets.

You see many of these aging adults own businesses that are doing billions of dollars of revenue each year. According to Forbes, the Baby Boomer generation owns 2.3 million small businesses in the United States.

Everyone seems to be talking about it. Which generally seems like a good sign right?

Wrong.

When was the best time to buy Bitcoin? It sure wasn’t when everyone was talking about during the last bull run of 2021.

There are two ways to be successful in business.

1. Be early and quiet

2. Be on time and consistent

If you were early to the internet 3 decades ago it’s pretty likely you were able to cash out a decent amount with a simple blog or website.

Think of Dude Perfect. They weren’t early to YouTube, but they have been uploading videos every single week for years. Now they post a video and 2 days later it has 3.4 million views.

Where exactly is the opportunity in “The Silver Tsunami?”

Well, if you are a private equity firm that acquires these types of businesses then you are probably in luck. There is going to be a lot of available inventory.

But not all of these businesses are going to sell. There are going to be people that just close up shop and sell their real estate.

Millions of Americans are going to be looking for new reliable service providers that can:

• Fix their furnace

• Change out an outlet

• Mow their lawn

• Do their taxes

• Clean their carpets

• Help them buy a house

• Manage rental properties

The list is endless. If you can start a business that provides quality work with clean cut and drug free technicians then you are in luck. You’ll have millions of customers that need you.
