Almost every entrepreneur starts flipping things early in their career. The founder of After got his start buying pallets of TVs and selling them on Facebook.
Buy low, sell high. That’s the American Dream in 4 words.
Remember that project in high school where you start with a paper clip and go around trading it until you end up with something much nicer? C’mon, I know you’ve tried it.
Today let’s break down how to turn that into an actual business.
If you haven’t subscribed yet, what are you even doing? It’s free.
This couple has gone viral on TikTok multiple times getting couches for free or super cheap then fixing them up to sell for a couple hundred dollars profit.
This was a couch they got for free, and with 3 hours of work they made $370. Not bad at all!
We’ll let you watch their videos to find out how they do it. It’s pretty straightforward work that includes cleaning the couch with upholstery cleaner, sewing up holes, and using a fabric shaver. By the end the couch looks brand new!
How to take this to the next level
A few months ago my wife and I were in the market for a new couch. The old one was too small and dirty and just needed to go.
We browsed around different stores but everything was pretty expensive so we didn’t pull the trigger.
One Saturday morning my wife was scrolling on Facebook Marketplace when she found a beautiful leather sectional for sale at a great price.
We thought it must be a scam because it looked brand new and was in a beautifully staged picture. After messaging the seller we got the address to go check it out.
The address led us to a commercial building that was basically a giant storage unit. Out front were all of these great couches that looked to be in like new condition.
We looked around and found the leather sectional that caught her eye. They offered free delivery AND to buy our old couch from us.
We negotiated on price and $500 later that thing was sold.
A few hours later the new couch was delivered to our living room and the old couch was hauled away. It was one of the smoothest transactions I’ve ever been a part of.
Take a common “side hustle” and turn it into an actual business.
So many wannabe entrepreneurs just do “side hustles” to make extra money. If you can learn to take those ideas and turn those into an actual business your earning potential goes to the moon.
A side hustle is:
random
unorganized
when you have time
trading your time for money
A business is:
organized
has processes
a priority
an asset that can be sold at a later date for huge profits

When you build a business, you build a future for yourself that you get to choose. Want to work remotely? With a few months of work and building processes, you could have operators in place so you aren’t involved in the day to day of the business. Want to interact with customers in a sales role? Build a fulfillment team so you spend your time slinging your product.
Keys to remember:
Stay lean. Use no cost marketing methods(like Facebook Marketplace)
Reviews are a huge source of trust for potential customers. Gather reviews with every single person you do business with.
Stay organized with a tech stack. This may be a non-tech business but you can leverage technology to optimize your time.
