Use Reddit, be a part of Inside Jokes
As I’ve been building The Steel Road, I’ve discovered a valuable resource that has opened my eyes. I can’t believe I’ve never been a consistent Reddit user until this point.
There’s something for everyone. Want some very sarcastic content? Oh it’s there. Want some really valuable information about building a business? It’s there too.
Just this morning I discovered a new sport called bikepacking. Of course I went straight to its subreddit and found out there were already 100k users posting their builds, routes, and hacks for hard core riding.
So for today’s Thinker Thursday we are going to highlight some of the best subreddits you can follow along for great entertainment and information.
Subreddits
Find your industry specific subreddit.
My background is in HVAC, so naturally the best for me is r/hvac. Your industry specific subreddit will have inside jokes, fails, and general good advice to follow.
Other industry specific subreddits include:
You get the idea. Find subreddits in your industry and participate in them for comradery and education.
Find some subreddits to learn more about business in general.
Read other people’s questions, respectfully ask your own, and help out when you can.
Rub shoulders with people more successful than you.
Reddit is this crazy place where you never know if you are talking to a broke gambling degenerate or a billionaire business owner.
I’m always looking for a solid subreddit. Share your favorites in the comments so others can check it out!

Netflix
I’ve been watching this show on Netflix recently. I like the overall premise and the financial teaching is pretty solid. The implied political stuff is annoying, but what are you gonna do? That’s the world we live in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
