The lifestyle of a non-tech business owner
Thinker Thursday is here, and it’s all focused on what kind of lifestyle non-tech business owners can live.
Tweets

Every day I talk to non-tech SMB owners. These guys have the best lifestyle of all time.
It's hard to catch them in the office because they are always out snowmobiling or skiing.

Solopreneurship 101:
Don't quit your job & then start building your own business.
Find 60 minutes per day to work on your business and use your job as investment capital.
Once your business is paying ~70% of your salary, then maybe go all in.
Almost always a better choice.
60 minutes is too low in my opinion, but this is a good way to think about it.

My real name is Baird Kleinsmith.
Baird is a surname, borrowed from my grandmother.
I live in Durango, Colorado.
I'm married w/ 4 & 8 yo kids.
I own storage in CO & NM.
I ski at Purgatory (inbounds) & the San Juan Mtns (backcountry).
I drive a 1995 Land Rover Defender 110.
Coolest car ever.

I wasn’t ready when I married at 21.
Or when I signed a 5 year biz lease w/ a personal guarantee at 22.
Or when I had my first kid at 23.
I ran my first ultramarathon after 4 months of running. Everyone said I wasn’t ready.
Do things before you’re ready, or you may never.
Books
The 4 Hour Work Week: Tim Ferris
The title is practically clickbait, but the principles in the book can be very sound.
Exercise

My best ideas for my business don’t come from podcasts.
They come from taking a walk.
While leaving my phone at home.
Go for a walk.
